Lila Global, a diversified ship owner and operator headquartered in Dubai, has formally joined Emirates Shipping Association, reinforcing its commitment to the continued development of the United Arab Emirates’ maritime sector and regional shipping cooperation.
Emirates Shipping Association represents the collective interests of shipowners, operators, and maritime stakeholders active in the UAE. The Association works closely with national regulators, port authorities, and international organisations to promote efficient, sustainable, and commercially sound maritime practices.
Membership provides Lila Global with a platform to contribute to key industry discussions, regulatory consultations, and collaborative initiatives that shape the UAE’s position as a global maritime hub. The company will engage through the Association’s working groups focused on regulation, safety, digitalisation, and decarbonisation, sharing insights drawn from its global operations.
“The UAE’s ambition to be a global maritime hub is about more than ships and ports, it’s about connecting people, innovation and sustainability”, notes Capt. Rishi Nyati, Treasurer of Emirates Shipping Association. “We exist to ensure every member and every stakeholder has a voice in shaping that future. I’m delighted to welcome Lila Global and look forward to working together to raise standards, drive decarbonisation, and make the UAE the most trusted place to do shipping business.”
“Our membership in Emirates Shipping Association demonstrates Lila Global’s deepening engagement with the UAE’s maritime community,” said Dr. Abdul Rahim, Chief Maritime Strategy and Innovation Officer. “The UAE has established itself as a centre of maritime excellence. As a shipowner headquartered in Dubai, we believe in active contribution to policy development, operational best practice, and sustainable growth in the region.”
Since its establishment in 2021, Lila Global has built a diversified fleet across dry bulk, tanker, container, and multipurpose segments, with commercial and technical teams operating from Dubai, Athens, Hamburg, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Mumbai, and Shanghai. The company’s integrated in-house model supports global trading activities across energy, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing supply chains.
By joining Emirates Shipping Association, Lila Global will collaborate more closely with the UAE and international partners to advance shared objectives in safety, environmental performance, and trade facilitation. The company also plans to participate in the Association’s upcoming industry forums and working sessions to support ongoing dialogue between shipowners and government entities.
“Emirates Shipping Association serves as a key bridge between the private sector and maritime authorities,” added Dr. Rahim. “Lila Global’s membership strengthens our long-term commitment to the UAE’s shipping sector and our intent to contribute to the region’s continued leadership in global maritime affairs.”
